Tommy Cooper even appeared, albeit weirdly, in London's Millennium Dome.
The new millennium officially started in Greenwich, England on 1st January 2001; The
World's biggest dome was built on the Meridian Line, in Greenwich, to celebrate this
historic event. The Millennium Dome was Britain's main contribution to the celebration
of the advent of the new millennium. The Millennium Dome is the largest structure of its
type in the World. Inside there are individual zones dedicated to thing's like the
mind, faith, talk, rest, money, timekeepers etc etc. One of these area's is called
'The Body Zone'. Inside it there is a structure that is supposed to be Tommy Cooper's brain! It is three-dimensional comes complete with Tom's trademark fez and microphone and a glass of water and it delivers classic Cooper one-line gags.
The structure was on a stage under a spotlight playing to an audience of other 'brains'.
These brains laugh and heckle the comedian. John Hackney, Creative team leader, said, "Tommy was master of
stand-up comedy and the rapid-fire gag. This made him the ideal choice for the voice of the Comedian Brain inside
the Body Zone. We also get to introduce his unique brand of humour to a whole new generation of youngsters."
